BWF Show Horses

Alicia Witzke has been dedicated to the Morgan breed for over 10 years. She began her love affair with Morgans  at Morningside Morgans, in Oshkosh, WI. Coached by Mary Jean Irvine, Alicia learned what hard work was all about.  "We (Alicia and her fellow barnmates) were never put on a finished horse and told OK, here you go. We had group lessons once a week and the rest we learned by doing on our own", Alicia states.

That is how Alicia developed her present training ethics. Alicia's parents purchased a three year old Morgan gelding (SKM Naughty But Nice) by Hylee's Take Command (by Noble Command) for her when she was 14. Alicia decided that it was her goal to train her own show horse and be competitive at the local Class A Morgan shows. Alicia did comment, "I was so lucky to have such a great minded horse because I learned as I went!"

Alicia and "Scooter" went on to earn many blues as a Junior Exhibitor team, but the most memorable moment was in 2001 (OK, not that long ago!). It was her last Junior Exhibitor year and she ended up winning the Saddle Seat Equitation qualifier, the AMHA Saddle Seat Silver Medal, the Equitation Championship, her Classic Pleasure qualifier and the Classic Pleasure Championship at the Morgan Masterpiece held in Oshkosh, WI. It was a great way to end those Junior Exhibitor days!

After successfully training and competing with her own Morgan, Alicia was hooked. She now enjoys working with young prospects as well as with Junior Exhibitors and Amateurs. She says the trill of teaching her students is more rewarding than it was to teach herself.  "There is nothing that gives you so much satisfaction as seeing something you work so hard at,  succeed and achieve the goals you set."

In 2002 Black Wolf opened its doors to the public and has led many young horses and riders down victory lane.  Black Wolf continues to produce Regional and National Caliber horses and riders.
